Flute maestro Shashank Subramanyam, a Grammy nominated renowned exponent of the Bamboo Flute from India, presented a musical concert, under the frame work of the ongoing Namasté France festival, on 10 November in Petit Palais in Paris.
He began the musical night with Sankarabharanam raga and then traversed through Dharmavati raga of Carnatic classical music. His mellifluous notes of music began with a slow alaap and reached crescendo and moved into single line compositions. He then performed a chain of different melodies from Carnatic classical music. He closed this extraordinary concert with the performance of ‘chinnanchiru kiliye’ in Pilu raga. Shashank was accompanied on Mridangam by Jayachandra Kuloor Uliya, on Violin by Sornalatha Akkarai Swamynathan, on Tanpura by Hemalatha Anadur Anantharamaiah and on Tabla by Ojas Yogesh Adhiya. The audience were mesmerised by the perfect symphony of Flute, Mridangam, Tabla, Tanpura and Violin. The audience gave a standing ovation to this extraordinary artist. Thunderous applause reverberated from the auditorium as the event ended. Ambassador of India Dr. Mohan Kumar and Mrs. Mala Kumar felicitated the maestro on this occasion.
