Manipuri dance Bayonne

As a part of Namasté France festival, Manipuri dance event was organized in Bayonne city on 09 October. Angela Sofia Stezer, a French artist (dancer and choreographer) trained in India, and Manju Elangbam (dancer), an Indian artist from Manipur, presented Rasa Lila of Manipuri dance. The richness of the costumes, the poise, the moving music and the devotion with which Rasa Lila was performed by the artists struck an emotional chord with the audience. Whereas, Irom Robert Singh’s ‘Pung Cholom’ and his thrilling leaps and turns to a fast rhythm and display of graceful and vigorous body movements held the audience spellbound. It was the first time that the Embassy of India presented a cultural event in Bayonne city. Mayor of Bayonne Mr. Jean-René Etchegary and Deputy Mayor attended the cultural evening. First Secretary (PIC) of the Embassy attended the event and thanked the city administration of Bayonne for enthusiastically welcoming Namasté France festival.
