An Indian cultural evening Rennes

13 octobre 2016 Under the framework of Namasté France festival, Embassy organized a series of cultural events in Rennes on 13-15 October. As a part of this, on 13 October, three Indian classical dances viz., Mohiniattam by Brigitte Chataignier, Bharta natyam by Maria Kiran and Kathakali by Michel Lestrehan were organized. A large number of people, mostly local French, had participated in the event. On the same day, dance conferences and demonstrations with Michel and Djeya Lestrehan on Kathakali were also organized. It gave an opportunity to students as well as all to the public to discover and learn various technics on dance, facial expression and theatre. First Secretary (Community Affairs) participated in these events. On 14 October, Hindustani classical music concert by Pandit Sukhdev Prasad Mishra on Violin belonging to Benarasi gharana and Tristan Auvray on Tabla enthralled the audience. Indo-French cultural association Compagnie Prana led by Brigitte Chataignier also organized a workshop on Kalarippayattu (martial art), Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam. On 15 October, “Danse of the Enchantress", a French documentary on Mohiniattam directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Brigitte Chataignier was screened.
